 We will be showing the movie

"IRON JAWED ANGELS"   - lead, follow or get out of the way

 Film stars Hilary Swank, Frances O'Connor, Julia Ormond and Anjelica Huston.  This film takes a fresh and contemporary look at a pivotal event in American history, "Iron Jawed Angels" tells the true story of how defiant and brilliant young activists Alice Paul (Hilary Swank) and Lucy Burns (Frances O'Connor) took the women's suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote.

 League President, Cathy Townsend, will be presenting 25 copies of the film to the St Lucie County School System, for viewing by all St Lucie County High School students.

Guest Speaker             Jack Burns

 Please plan on coming to this very important planning meeting with our facilitator Mr. Jack Burns.  Our organization is at a fork in the road, and so we will be spending our time planning the future for our League.  This will be a lively discussion as we prepare our long and short term strategies for the League of Women Voters St Lucie County.  In addition, we will formulate our tactics to implement these strategies, while maintaining our mission.  We need input from all our members.  Among some of our goals to be discussed is increasing membership, maintaining a healthy bank balance and foster public forums on diverse issues of interest and concern to our community.  This is a critical "do not miss" meeting.

Directions: Clubhouse - The Lakes at The Savannahs:<:

 Located on the East side of US 1 on Lakefront Boulevard, just 2 miles North of Midway Road and 1/4 mile South of Edwards Road in South Fort Pierce.  The turn is between 2 hotels on the east side, (Days Inn and Econo-Lodge).  Enter the development and take your first right and follow it around (it curves to your left at the end of the first block).  You will pass 2 speed bumps and one stop sign.  Continue on this street and the clubhouse will be on your left.  There is a large empty field just before you get to it.
